Sparkling wines have been part of the Traverse City wine scene for decades, sparked by Larry Mawby's pioneering work crafting high-quality Champenoise-style.wines on the Leelanau Peninsula beginning in 1984. Today, the region's sparkling offerings rival some of the finest in the country — and Bubbles by the Bay is your invitation to taste the very best of them.
As the sun begins its descent over West Grand Traverse Bay, guests are invited to sample top-notch sparkling wines — including rare and limited offerings from their collections — from some of the region's most celebrated producers: Left Foot Charley, 2 Lads Winery, MAWBY Sparkling Wines, Black Star Farms, and Bonobo Winery. Learning directly from the winery teams behind each bottle makes this as enlightening as it is delicious. A jazz trio from the Traverse City Philharmonic sets a breezy, beachside tone throughout the evening, while an extensive grazing table overflows with both savory and sweet offerings — artisan cheeses, charcuterie, fresh fruits, and decadent desserts — thoughtfully curated to complement every pour.
Sunset. Sparkling wine. Live jazz. This is northern Michigan at its most magical.
