Two chefs come together for a special five-course lunch exploring the connections between Korean, Vietnamese, and Japanese culinary traditions through the lens of peak Michigan produce.
Chef Ji Hye Kim, the chef and owner of Miss Kim in Ann Arbor, joins Chef Taylor Filko, Chef de Cuisine at The Good Bowl, for an afternoon of inspired collaboration. Kim, a Food & Wine Best New Chef and four-time James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: Great Lakes, is known for her deep study of Korean culinary history and her ability to connect tradition, seasonality, and storytelling through her cooking.
Filko brings a wealth of experience from some of Chicago’s most respected kitchens, including Proxi, Momotaro, and Itoko, where she developed a thoughtful approach to technique, composition, and season-driven cooking. Together, Kim and Filko will create a menu that translates Korean, Vietnamese, and Japanese culinary influences through the ingredients of northern Michigan — highlighting fermentation, balance, fresh herbs, and the region’s farms, orchards, and waters.
Inspired by the abundance of the region, this one-day collaboration brings together two distinct culinary perspectives for an intimate lunch celebrating craft, culture, and the farmers who make it possible.
